Hospitality Industry Backs Smoking Ban

Ninety percent of hospitality industry executives support the government's smoking ban, according to TRI Hospitality Consulting.

Also, more than 64 percent of executives thought the UK government should impose a total ban on smoking to protect hospitality workers.

That doesn't mean there isn't trepidation concerning the regulations, however, as 30 percent of executives think new regulations mean extra costs. And 33 percent anticipate a drop in business because of the smoking ban.

"There is clear support within the industry for action on passive smoking," said Jonathan Langston, managing director of TRI Hospitality Consulting. " . . .Despite the strong opposition from lobby groups representing some parts of the wider hospitality sector."
