Locale is a quintessential Italian neighbourhood restaurant (222 Munster Road, London, SW6 6AY Tel: 020 7381 6137) and will open on the 19th January after refurbishment, re-branding, and under new management.
The intimate eatery will serve authentic Italian dishes and boast two dining areas, an outside terrace and a private dining room, seating a total of 147 people. The cocktail bar area will also seat 20 covers where customers can enjoy stuzzichini – small Italian dishes perfect for accompanying drinks.
Updated by designer Brigette D’Angelo (past work includes Apartment 195 in Chelsea), Locale boasts a warm atmosphere and offers comfortable dining with a homely feel. Exposed brickwork walls and dark wood furniture alongside brown leather banquettes are set against pleated wallpapers and antique mirrors, lit by low level lighting and chandeliers. The floor to ceiling pane glass windows at the front of the restaurant looks out onto the terrace where diners enjoy their meals in the warmer months. The private area is framed by thick red velvet curtains, giving 12 people the perfect place for a private party while being a part of the main restaurant.
The new lounge bar serves delicious, fresh fruit cocktails and great wines by the glass. The perfect place for a celebration Bellini or an after work drink, the bar ensures that the most discerning drinker is catered for. The wine list focuses on Italian labels and is priced from £14.95 by the bottle. Happy Hour is between 5 and 7pm Monday to Friday and all day Sundays when customers can enjoy two for one cocktails or a bottle of wine for the price of two large glasses.
The kitchen can be viewed through the glass wall so diners in the top dining area can watch their delicious meals being carefully prepared by the Italian chefs. All of the fresh ingredients are bought from London markets to ensure the best quality and flavours. Italian ingredients are used whenever possible, including flour, eggs and olive oil and all the dishes are made to authentic Italian recipes to ensure guests get a true taste of Italy.
The a la carte menu offers all of the traditional Italian dishes with plenty of choice for meat and fish eaters as well as vegetarians. Signature dishes include Stinco d’Agnello Arrosto Servito con pure’ di patete (Roasted lamb shank with mash potatoes), £13.95 and Filetto Di Branzino All’Acquapazza (Sea Bass Fillet with Fish Broth, Cherry Tomato and Crouton), £13.95. They also serve a great range of fresh Neapolitan pizza from £7.95.
Delicious brunches are on offer between 11am and 1pm every Saturday and Sunday. Alongside Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon or Ham, £5.95 and other traditional dishes, Montecristo Sandwich with Maple Syrup (ham and fontina cheese sandwich dipped in egg and fried), £5.50 on offer. For those recovering from the night before a Bloody Mary or Virgin Mary will be the perfect accompaniment. Roasts are available all day on Sundays, serving the full works for £11.95.
Locale Fulham looks forward to welcoming the local community as well as diners from further a field and attracting diners from further a field to enjoy the traditional Italian dishes when they re-open.
Locale County Hall will also be undergoing a full refurbishment, including the addition of a bar area and will re-open on 20th February.
