On Friday 27th October ? Breast Cancer Campaign?s Wear it Pink Day - The Athenæum on Piccadilly launches a new, totally pink afternoon tea in aid of breast cancer research.
Awash with freshly cut Damask roses, beautiful silk drapes and a wonderful collection of both contemporary and classic artefacts, the newly refurbished ground floor of The Athenæum is the perfect backdrop for the new Pink Tea.
Small alcoves looking onto The Athenæum?s ?secret? sunken garden, tea lights, bespoke, porcelain tea cups and the subtle scent of real garden roses set the scene for this fairy tale experience.
To start, choose from a selection of perfectly pink open sandwiches, including smoked salmon, freshly carved ham and mustard and poached salmon and dill. Plates are cleared and tea is refreshed, ready for the second stage - warm, bite-sized scones oozing with fresh clotted cream and home made strawberry jam. Then to the trolley....
Served with a tall glass of pink Champagne, guests can choose from a choice of home-baked cakes, pastries and desserts. All pink, and all painstakingly prepared by the Athenæum?s team of pastry chefs. The selection includes light and crisp raspberry macaroons; strawberry meringues; iced fairy cakes; mini strawberry tartlet?s, and a glorious light and fluffy iced sponge cake.
Last but not least, connect with your inner child and dip into the giant glass jars of strawberry jelly beans, marshmallows and candy sticks! Although frivolous and decadent, The Athenæum?s Pink Tea is gorgeously girly in that each treat is suitably small and slimming (!) as well as being for a good cause.
The Pink Tea at The Athenæum is priced at £23, or £28 including a glass of pink Champagne. From October 23rd, 5% of the bill will be donated to Breast Cancer Campaign. Reservations are recommended, and can be made by calling 020 7470 3333 or emailing dining@athenaeumhotel.com.
